I do HIIT 3 times a week on a treadmill for 20 mins each time. I go from 5 for 1 minute to 12 for 30 seconds. After 20 minutes of this, I’m not completely out, a 10 minute rest and I’m on the weights. The secret has to be your ability to recuperate. I can recuperate fairly quickly from HIIT. All I need is a 10-15 minute rest and I’m ready to go again.

Hi there, I am doing HIIT but need to know if we do HIIT everyday? I heard the benefit from EPOC lasts 38 hours (this study said at a MINIMUM, as opposed to some other studies that said it CAN last up to 24) SO do I need to do HIIT everyday to benefit from the raised metabolism? it is the ONLY exercize i am currently doing and I have no plans to add anything more for a few months.

I did HIIT on the bike the other day and my VMO was burning (muscle right above the knee)… I don’t get that kind of rubber-leg feel when I do HIIT from squatting with a medicine ball and throwing it into the air… which one should I stick to?

    A few things. First …
A few things. First, the elliptical is a momentum based machine, meaning that much of the motion is provided because of the machine and not just from you. After doing it for some time you will get use to it faster and not feel as much. I would move machines and try the bike for a while.

The other aspect is for you to try shorter intervals. I always prescribe doing 15 seconds as hard and fast as you can, with only a 30 second rest. You will get less rest, and feel it more as you go.

I’m doing HIIT and I feel like I have a lot of endurance. My elliptical has 10 levels. I do the “jog” on 6 and the intense “sprint” at level 10, but lately, I don’t feel as beat up. I don’t think I can move my legs faster and do feel my heart racing. Do you have any tips for better result? I’m doing 2min Jog: 1min Sprint. Should I go to 1min Jog: 30sec Sprint?
