I dont expect to lose any weight within this week – I am already on a diet/exercise plan…I just want to reduce bloating and look the best I can before my event. I should cut out white carbs, sugar, oil, butter, etc and drink a lot of water…what else? How can I maximize my gym time? More strength training and less cardio to tone up or vice versa to lean up a little?

Try water pill like Diurex. You have to pee like crazy but you lose water weight and any signs of bloating. Just make sure you drink LOTS of water or you’ll dehydrate…..

I ran into a girl I graduated with just last June. Although our faces aren’t similar, we both have long brown hair and remarkably similar body types and people would often get us confused. We weighed the same and looked almost exactly the same proportionally. Now, she looks like a model. She has a flat stomach that even has definition, smaller arms, legs and face too. She looks great, I was so happy for her. It also gave me a good idea of how I would look once I lose some weight. Her hips were big like mine and I thought I would never get rid of that fat hip look, but her results prove different. I know that even though we had similar bodies that we won’t necessarily show similar results and that everyone’s body is different in the way that it works for them, but I am nonetheless motivated by what I see she has accomplished. One thing that got to me though..

I told her she looked good and asked her how she did it. She simply said ,”I went to the gym and ran til I couldn’t run.” And so I asked her how long that took. She said 2 months. Now, I weigh 160 as did she prior to the loss. She probably weighs about 120 now, maybe even less and that is no exaggeration.

This just doesn’t sound possible to me. Everywhere you look you hear “a pound a week” no more than 2 or 3 or else you aren’t doing it safely or permanently.

Has anybody actually gotten results like that? Honestly, is it even possible?

(I try not to think about this because its something I myself would never consider, but there is a chance that she may have been doing pretty hard drugs too. Cocaine absolutely SHRUNK one of her best friends down from 230 to about 135 and I know this for a fact. She was my best friend too. She didn’t die from it but she’s well on her way if she doesn’t give it up)

Yes it’s possible to lose 40 lbs in 2 months but it not in a very healthy manner, and with low change of keeping it off long term. Simply cutting calories exremely low and exercising every possible moment would do it.

You are right that 1 – 3 lbs/wk is what is recommended. That rate of loss typically occurs by healthy eating and reasonable exercise so is something a person can (and should) do indefinitely…thus the weight will stay off. It’s a lifestyle change, not a temporary diet to drop some pounds.

Could it have been done through drug use? *shrugs* A side effect of ‘em is often loss of appetite. Not knowing your friend, we can’t say how she did it but it’s just about guaranteed it wasn’t done using a method any doctor or professional would recommend.

To speed fat loss. Eat less and exercise more. Don’t drop calories too low, and workout at least 1 hr a day at least 5 days a week. There is no magic bullet…doing it right takes time and dedication.

im 12 and have a pretty flat stomach but my thighs and bottom really r fat. any tips?

Those are so hard to get rid of. The only thing I can recommend is plenty of different leg exercises (leg lifts, running, ect) and eating right. I have the curse, as well. I’m taking dance classes and it is helping me lose my thighs.

I’m 16 5,8 185 pounds and fat i have a very slow metabolism and i cant seem to loose wight,i have a blow flex machine and a punching bag that i have been using for about two months but it doent seem to be working and I’m at the age now where i look at girls and i want to be noticed to.
