French food is considered the world’s premiere cuisine. That is some thing which has usually type of boggled my thoughts.

The reason is not simply because I do not like french food – as being a matter of fact, I happen to adore it. Whether it’s fisherman’s soup, or escargots, or moulle frittes (mussels and fries), french food is among my preferred cuisines. A nearby bistro in my neighborhood, Le Barricou, is 1 of my preferred restaurants. So it’s not like I don’t love french food.

The issue is the fact that the quality of one cuisine versus another has usually seemed like a totaly goal thing to me. Who’s there to say that a french steak is much better than a german style steak if you like the german style much better? Who’s there to say that one cuisine is more distinctive or complicated than an additional, when the reality is the fact that almost every cuisine (with the exception of Fantastic Britain and Ireland, which are unanimously considered culinary wastelands) has its own complexities and distinctive traits?

The actuality is that nobody has the right to say that one way or the other. Great French food is truly good. So is great italian meals, so is great thai meals, so is good Mexican meals. None is inherently better than the next. It is all a issue of individual preference and tastes.

So as we’ve established, I really, really like French food. If I had been to make a checklist of my favorite restaurants, Le Barricou would be at or close to the top. Put a gun to my head and I’d say it’s my 2nd preferred, but ranking so many dining establishments that I love like that feels like a betrayal. To ensure that stated, I’d say there is a “top flight” of best restaurants, and Le Barricou is in there.

The other people could be a local pizza location called Motorino, which the new York Times lately called the best pizza in New york City (and, therefore, the very best pizza within the Usa of The united states). I’d also add La Piazzetta, an additional local Italian restaurant – this one specializing in pastas and fresh fish rather than pizza. I’d also consist of Fette Sau, a barbeque joint that does a Texas-style BBQ having a brooklyn twist. They use cuts of meat like flank steak and pulled pork that you just wouldn’t find in Texas.

There are others of course – the hazard of the list like this really is you inevitably neglect one or two dining establishments which you love.
