It seems that everywhere you turn these days, there’s another study that tells people what they should or shouldn’t eat in order to promote good health. Often, this advice conflicts with beliefs or practices that were widespread a decade or so before. For instance, bread and grains used to be at the bottom of the Food Pyramid, with experts recommending at least 5 servings per day. But now carbohydrates have become one of the most vilified food groups around, and are blamed for everything from potbellies to cavities. Give it another 10 years, and carbs will be in again!
One thing that all the experts do seem to agree on is that heart disease remains a major health hazard to Americans. Therefore, it’s important to try to lower your cholesterol any way you can. If you already have a serious problem, then your doctor probably has you on a prescription drug regimen, or even better an effective herbal supplement , to help regulate levels. If you’re just a bit on the high side and want to rein things in before they get out of hand, then there are lots of ways to lower your cholesterol naturally.
The best way to do this is by exercising regularly. Though doctors aren’t 100 percent sure what the connection is, current thinking suggests that exercise helps jump start the enzymes responsible for moving low-density lipoprotein (LDL) from your bloodstream to your liver, where it is subsequently turned into bile and excreted. So the more you exercise, the more stimulation those critical enzymes receive, and the lower your cholesterol becomes.
Another way to lower your cholesterol is by modifying your diet. Cutting out or greatly reducing your intake of red meat, fried foods, and other animal-based products can yield the desired effect of lowering the body’s LDL levels. You can substitute these fatty foods with healthier choices like chicken, turkey, or fish, and can also add whole grains, such as oatmeal, and nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, and pistachios.
If exercise and a better diet aren’t helping lower your cholesterol significantly enough, you can try taking some supplements as well. There are various herbal supplements on the market that are said to have a positive effect on LDL. Although these claims are not approved or endorsed by the FDA, many people have reported success with ingredients like garlic, turmeric, red yeast rice, artichoke leaf extract, and other herbs. In addition, fish oil supplements with EPA and DHA are widely regarded as effective products that can help lower your cholesterol.
As you can see, there are lots of things you can do to limit your risk of heart disease. By using these tips to lower your cholesterol, you can enjoy better health and a longer life. I think the tradeoff is worth it!

Fast Weight Lose? Fast Weight (You) Lose!
( Weight Loss Supplements – Herbal/All Natural )
Losing weight is an ironic social obsession. Our media tells us to be unrealistically thin, but at the same time it encourages us to engorge ourselves on fast food and to avoid lifting as few fingers as possible. And not only are we obsessed with losing weight, we are obsessed with how to lose weight quick. It s the perfect marriage of weight loss and caloric convenience. It’s also what we call Fast Weight Lose…
Hear me out. We know that the key to weight loss is simply food restriction, and that the trick to maintaining a healthy weight is exercise. Yet we spend countless dollars on diet pills, fad diets and more recently and drastically, liposuction and gastric bypass surgery. Want to know how to lose weight quick? Take some Lipovox. Follow Atkins, or South Beach Diet, or the next trendy food regimen. Lie down on the operating table and have your fat reshaped or your stomach stapled. Or just stop eating altogether.
Or before taking your pick of the above, consider that a diet involves making better choices in food consumption . Choices aren t tangible items that a pill can contain. Furthermore, the right choices in diet vary according to the individual. People have different biological compositions, and therefore different dietary needs. There isn t a one diet fits all, and there never will be. Read up on liposuction and discover that it s not a weight-loss method, but a cosmetic surgery option. Research gastric bypass and learn that it s an operation only to be performed in the case of morbid obesity.
Starving yourself will help you lose weight for sure. It ll also wear away at your muscle and bone mass, decay your teeth, damage your liver, brittle your nails and hair, stunt your growth, wane your complexion, give you constipation, weaken your immune system, and in short destroy your body from inside out, making you another of the recent rising number of individuals that suffer from anorexia nervosa each year and remain overweight in their own minds.
My point!?… We shouldn t be focusing on how to lose weight quick. We ve overlooked the importance of losing weight healthily and preventing excessive weight gain in the first place . The consequences are diminished health, rampant commercialism, errant attitudes about weight loss and impaired psychological well-being. And this is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly. As it is now, the media will teach you how to lose weight quick, and remain silent when you ask why it s not working.

South Beach Diet Phase 1
The South Beach Diet is a dieting plan developed by Dr. Agatston. It runs in three phases. The first phase runs for 14 days and can result in weight loss of up to 10 pounds after this period. There are recommended foods that can be taken during the Phase 1 period. There is also a list of foods to be avoided. You can eat normal quantities of lean meats. Lots of vegetables are recommended, as is consuming plenty of water. But no bread, pasta, rice, cookies, pastry, etc. during the first 14 days.
All alcohol is to be avoided, including wine and beer. Vegetables to be avoided during Phase 1 are things like yams, carrots, beets, and potatoes. But tomatoes, broccoli and cabbage are allowed. You can also take cauliflower, celery, beans, cabbage, mushrooms and okra. You also need to avoid cocktail sauce and ketchup. Limit consumption of coffee and tea to once or twice a day.
Your body slowly reduces the insulin resistance during the Diet Phase 1. So you can begin to see some weight loss. Lean cut beef, lamb, and pork (including loin, Canadian bacon, boiled ham, etc) are all allowed provided all visible fat has been removed. There are many recipes available that are tailored to meet the requirements of the South Beach Diet Plan, including the Phase 1.
South Beach Diet recommends the consumption of foods with low GI (glycemic index). The glycemic index is a measure of how quickly or how high some foods can raise your blood sugar level. Diet Phase 1 gets you started on the path of healthy eating and weight loss with low-glycemic foods.
